iPod video? Slow down Steve daddy!!!!!!

Apple's getting just a little bit carried away. It hasn't even been a month since they released the iPod Nano and they're already announcing a new iPod that will play video! The video iPod has a 2.5 inch screen and will be available with 30 or 60 gigabyte memory. It will be priced at around $299 and $399.

I spent $400 on the 'second' release of the 20 gigabyte iPod that only played music. Less than a year later, a version that displayed color images made its debut. Then there was the iPod shuffle; the iPod U2 (Who made that decision?); and now the slimed down iPod Nano. No, wait! Lets put video playback capabilities into it and make it big again! Please make up your mind!

So that means Apple's gonna have 6 iPod products that pretty much do the same thing. Hmm? I guess there's an iPod for everyone? We saw this problem with all those different flavor-colored iMacs, remember?

The digital lifestyle requires products that are based on form and function. The iPod's strength is the music playback and storage capabilities. A key element in the digital lifestyler's daily routine is music. Music on the way to school and work, during breaks, and on the way home. When incorporating the visual element, make sure to keep the primary focus in mind. Gear the video towards content that associates with music videos, live performances, or new release commercials. Music videos that are 2-3 minutes long are a better medium than a 3 hour Scarface movie. Believe me, someone will try to watch Sacraface on their iPod!.

Steve, you are having a great run in the digital entertainment hardware segment. Pace yourself!

Love ya man!

New Gaming Systems Unveiled at E3 2005 Expo

Official coverage of the E3 2005... Here's a First look at the new gaming system offerings from the big boys of video game hardware-Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft.

Pitured from top to bottom are the Playstation 3, Nintendo Revolution, and Xbox 360. Taking a lesson from Apple's IPod, they all have been sleekly redesigned to appeal to a design sensitive consumer market. So did function get left out of the design process??? We'll the true answer will come when these systems finally hit the shelves but they include updated features such as wireless networking, Bluetooth enabled joysticks (that's wireless for those of you that are still in the ice age), and processors with up to 3ghz speed.

The systems also feature other new features such as HDTV support, additional USB ports, and larger internal hard drives. So in terms of 'written specifications', they include all the essential functions for a new gaming experience. The proof will be in game development. The addition of faster graphic and operation processors should equate to enhanced graphic rendering and seamless animation. All of the major game developers have lined-up to create new releases that take advantage of the new consoles set to hit by the holiday season.

Check out our partnersKonsoleKingz.com for more E3 2005 coverage which features video game clips and more.

Sony Playstation Portable Hype

The new Sony Playstation Portable has hit the streets and video gamers and portable media junkies all have an opinion about how this product will rock the world. Will it crush Apple's IPod? Probably not just yet but it has the potential.

Most gamers have a Playstation2 in their household so why get a PSP? Well the answer is easy...Its just plain hot! It's the latest and the greatest gadget, so you know you gotta have it! It's a sex... I mean, sexy machine! The most amazing part of it is the large LCD screen. The visuals are better than most TV's! It's extremely ergonomic and not as bulky as I imagined.

The reality is that while it may be sleek and more current than the PS2, its not a complete universal media player. Unlike the PS2 which can playback audio and video CD and DVD re-writable discs, the PSP can only play personal files stored on Sony Memory Sticks. The UMD media format (Universal Media Disc), has a limited amount of game publishers and no re-writable features. They're similar to the Sony Mini Disc media that was released in the early '90's and made a slight comeback in the mid-'90's, (My Sony MD player has been collecting dust since the rise of MP3's). If Sony doesn't open up this media to some type of personal storage capability or create an internal hard drive, they may see a similar fate as their MD player.

In addition, the PSP doesn't support AV output, so you can't hook it up to the flat screen TV, or at least a non-Sony flat screen. Some of the Sony LCD and Plasma TV's in the 10-20K range at least support memory Stick playback and may come with WiFi connectivity or built-in UMD players in the future. Damn! Until then, you're stuck to your built-in screen.

If Sony doesn't address these obvious disadvantages, then Apple need not worry about their current reign of the digital music world just yet!

Whew!!!

Man oh man... I just finished designing, formating, and overseeing the printing of a 250 page perfect bound book for The Links, Inc., Sacramento Chapter's annual Beautillion event (it's a Black thang, you may not understand). Started and finished it in like 2 weeks! That's the Push Visual Marketing Company work but now its time to get back to Life-digitized.com.

Big shout-out to XM radio for sending us the XM2Go MyFi portable satellite radio to review. If you're not knowing, satellite radio is gonna be the next big thing since wave caps. Also good looking to Motorolla and Boost Mobile for sending the phones to review. Look out for stylish reviews of the Motorola V3 from the Life-digitized.com Style Editor(my wife), the Digitial Diva. Our Dj-at-large, DJ Armstead will put the Boost Mobile i830 to work. Make sure to keep up with his blog so that you can see how it works in a true urban enviornment. Chirp, chirp!

Go to the website and check out the latest reviews and news! Buy something too! We need to pay the gas bill! www.life-digitized.com

I'll holla!

Getting Closer

Well I'm almost done with restructuring www.life-digitized.com to incorporate the shopping area. Talked with Motorola's PR firm and we'll be getting the phones for DJ Armstead to review very soon..."Arm, hold tight man. We're about to do this!"

I still have to finish registering for the E3 conference. They run all the media trough hoops to get registered...fax business cards, send last published article, give DNA sample, all the formalities...AHHH!

On another note... It's Black History Month and Ossie Davis died on Feb. 4...What a trip. Alone in a hotel room in Miami, away from his wife of 56 years Ruby Dee, he passed.

Ossie Davis was an accomplished Broadway and film actor as well as civil rights activist made popular amongst us younger folk from his roles in several of Spike Lee's movies. He was good friends with Martin Luther King and he also gave the eulogy at Malcolm X's funeral.

Along with his wife Ruby Dee, they protested the killing in New York of a Guinean immigrant, brought lawsuits to federal court for black voting rights, as well as spoke out for citizen involvement in democracy and in support of sickle cell disease research. A true loss to this world. RIP.

Until next time. Think on that!

Still Hustlin'

Working on some new layouts for the website. It's been challenging balancing home, work, and the American dream. Gotta eat my vitamins... Received the ZVOX speaker that recreates surround sound, available for under $200 ($199). So far so good. Check the site for the full review in late Feb.

Still waiting on the phones from Motorola and the other items that need to get out to DJ Armstead in New York. Need to give him some time to play with the products before he starts reviewing items on www.djarmstead.com.

Sent over the copy for the Konsole Kingz piece. That should run soon... That reminds me; I need to get cracking on making a big impression at this years E3 conference in LA.

Gotta go! I'll holla soon.

The Big Payback!

It's 2005 Yall! It's been over 10 years since I started Informer Hip-Hop Magazine-my printed adventure into the hip-hop magazine world. I remember the only web design experience I had back then was creating a home page for Informer Magazine from my personal AOL account. I used the only WYSIWYG web design product out, Adobe PageMill! Who remembers that? I even had the nerve to print the url in the magazine too... "http://aol.member.com/informermag/index.html." Wow how far we have come...

Well things have changed and I've designed several websites since then and the one I'd like to vent on in this blog is www.life-digitized.com. That's the new 'Informer.' Not the same content but the same passion I had back in '93 when I was a young 21 year-old hip-hop loving graphic design student at California State University, Sacramento (Do the math! I'll be 33 this year and so WHAT!).

Anyways, I'll talk a little about myself and my adventures in the entertainment industry throughout my future posts. Hopefully I'll have something that I can scrap together one day and get published...that would be the lick! See ya soon.
